Today, in Portugal, we have more than 1,000 employees and three manufacturing facilities producing injectable medicines.Hikma intends to recruit an Operational Technology (OT) Engineer (m/f) for on-site work at our manufacturing site in Sintra.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems in a highly regulated and technologically advanced pharmaceutical environment. You will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, IT, Validation, QA, and equipment suppliers to ensure the effective lifecycle management of Operational Technology (OT) systems supporting sterile manufacturing.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Define OT requirements for new equipment, including connectivity, system integration, data management, backups, user access, and audit trail requirements.
  • Develop and maintain OT procedures related to data management, backups, audit trails, and system recovery.
  • Coordinate OT-related technical activities with Operations, Maintenance, IT, Validation, QA, and equipment suppliers.
  • Support OT system lifecycle management, including system inventory, periodic reviews, and change control activities.
  • Monitor OT system performance, identify reliability risks, and implement preventive actions to improve system availability.
  • Support compliance with GMP, data integrity, and computer system validation requirements.
  • Contribute to the integration and standardization of manufacturing systems, including support for MES and future digital manufacturing initiatives.

 

Profile:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, preferably in Automation Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience in industrial automation, Operational Technology, or manufacturing systems (pharmaceutical experience is an advantage).
  • Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, industrial networks, virtualization, backup strategies, and data integrity principles.
  • Familiarity with GMP, computer system validation, and change management is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proactive, organized, and able to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
