Title: Sr. Specialist, FP&A - Group
Sr. Specialist, FP&A – Group
Function: Finance — Group / Corporate FP&A
Grade: Senior Specialist
Location: Amman, Jordan
Job Overview
The candidate will be a senior member of the Group FP&A team, operating as both a hands-on individual leading and supporting the team's reporting quality for outputs going to the FP&A Head and CFO, and utilising available systems and tools to do so. The role combines accounting knowledge, financial statements analysis along with deep analytical work including but not limited to: variance analysis, performance insights, OPEX analysis, and business partnering with the responsibility to coordinate deliverables across regional and segmental FP&A teams, ensure timeliness, and proactively identify risks, opportunities, and cost-savings ideas at Group level. The role supports FP&A leadership in maintaining the integrity, consistency, and analytical quality of Group FP&A outputs across a complex multinational pharmaceutical organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and Forecasting
- Lead specific workstreams within the Group's annual budget, quarterly rolling forecasts, and 5-year business plan cycles from planning through consolidation to sign-off.
- Coordinate directly with regional and segmental FP&A teams on timeliness and quality of planning submissions; escalate delays and issues to the FP&A Head with recommended next steps.
- Review inputs and outputs from more junior team members before they progress to the FP&A Head or CFO.
- Support the setting of Group market guidance on expected financial performance in coordination with Investor Relations.
- Support the Group's annual going concern and viability exercises by providing data inputs, supporting schedules, and risks/downside considerations identified through ongoing performance analysis.
- .
Performance Analysis
- Own the monthly variance analysis process across all P&L line items (Actuals vs Budget, Forecast, Prior Year, and LRP), ensuring analysis is timely, accurate, and driver-based.
- Proactively identify and quantify risks and opportunities across business segments. Not only tracking KPIs and variances but converting them into actionable insights and clear recommendations for management.
- Perform deep-dive product profitability and gross margin analysis at segment and SKU level.
- Own the Group operating expenses analysis; proactively identify OPEX savings opportunities, cost inefficiencies, and areas for tighter cost control, and work with corporate function heads to size and prioritise them.
- Support the generation of variance reports against market consensus in coordination with Investor Relations.
- Challenge, review and comprehend the budgets submitted by the business through sanity checks, trends and diving into details.
- Separate underlying performance from “one-off” effects, presenting results on both Core and Non-Core basis, and reported and constant-currency basis.
Management Reporting and Presentation
- Play a lead role in the preparation of periodical executive performance review packs, board materials, and CEO/CFO reporting, owning end-to-end sections including narrative.
- Review reporting and analytical outputs produced by junior team members for accuracy, consistency, formatting, and analytical soundness before they are shared upward.
- Identify errors, inconsistencies, and misclassifications in Group financial reports (including data coming out of SAP BPC and Power BI) and drive rectification with Corporate Reporting, regional finance, and system owners.
- Build and maintain critical Group Power BI dashboards; own the underlying data models, DAX measures, and quality control.
- Apply structured accuracy and completeness checks to every management reporting output before release — reconciling totals across sources, verifying period-on-period and cross-schedule consistency, and confirming figures tie back to the system of record before packs reach the FP&A Head, CFO, or Board.
- Lead the continuous enhancement of financial models and reporting tools used in management reporting.
- Deliver ad-hoc analyses and reports for the CFO and VP FP&A – Group with rapid turnaround and executive-level polish.
- Hold ad-hoc analyses to the same data-integrity standard as recurring reporting — documenting data sources and key assumptions, reconciling inputs to the system of record, and building in self-checks so rapid-turnaround work remains traceable, reproducible, and defensible under scrutiny.
Business Partnering
- Act as a lead business partner to selected corporate department heads, providing detailed departmental expenses and headcount reporting and a proactive view of cost trends and control opportunities.
- Coordinate with Segmental Finance, Corporate Reporting, Tax, Treasury, and Investor Relations to align financial views and reconcile differing narratives across teams.
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions, product portfolio decisions, and transformation projects.
Team Coordination and Quality Assurance
- Serve as the first-line reviewer for output produced by more junior FP&A team members, ensuring quality and consistency before submission to the FP&A Head.
- Coach and support junior team members with technical, analytical, and process guidance; help unblock issues and improve their delivery.
- Own the Group FP&A cycle tracker across submitting entities and functions; drive on-time delivery and flag slippage early with proposed solutions.
- Coordinate directly with regional and stakeholder finance teams on the timeliness of FP&A deliverables (planning cycles, month-end reporting, board deliverables, and ad-hoc requests), and lead follow-up when timelines slip.
Systems, Processes, and Improvements
- Maintain deep hands-on expertise with the Group's planning and reporting stack — SAP, SAP BPC, Power BI, and Excel-based models — and support less experienced colleagues in using them effectively.
- Control the integrity of data loaded into the Group's planning and reporting systems (SAP BPC, Power BI); perform pre- and post-upload validation, reconcile loaded balances back to source, and investigate and resolve load errors, mapping breaks, and duplicate or missing entries before figures are relied upon.
- Own and maintain a standard set of data-integrity checks and reconciliations — e.g. intercompany eliminations, FX conversion checks, and cross-system reconciliations — and ensure they are run and evidenced in each reporting cycle.
- Establish and maintain the control framework and audit trail for FP&A data — documented sources, version control, and review sign-offs — so every reported number is traceable to its origin and reproducible on demand.
- Drive automation and process improvements across planning and reporting workflows (Power Query, DAX, Power BI data models, structured Excel).
- Support digital finance initiatives and adoption of best practices in FP&A across the team.
- Continuously improve FP&A processes, tools, and controls, ensuring data integrity and reconciliation across systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; professional qualification (CMA, ACCA, CFA, or CPA) preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience that includes hands-on FP&A experience and/or extensive financial analysis work in a large or multinational organization.
- Advanced Power BI skills — including Power Query, data modelling, and DAX — required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to build, maintain, and troubleshoot dashboards and data models, not simply consume existing reports.
- Strong knowledge in accounting, financial reporting and consolidation and reading of financial statements.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; PowerPoint skills sufficient to produce board-ready outputs with minimal rework.
- Pharmaceutical/manufacturing industry experience is strongly preferred, particularly with exposure to product profitability, gross margin bridging, and manufacturing overhead absorption.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred) and consolidation / planning tools (SAP BPC or equivalent) is a strong plus.
- Strong understanding of financial planning cycles and how they connect to external reporting under IFRS.
- Very strong analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to identify anomalies, patterns, and errors in large multi-source financial datasets.
- Strong controls mindset, with hands-on experience designing and running data-integrity checks, reconciliations, and validation routines across financial systems, and maintaining an auditable trail from source data to reported output.
- Effective written and verbal communication, with the ability to challenge submissions constructively and distill complex analysis into clear executive messages.
- Comfortable coordinating across multiple stakeholders in a multinational, matrix environment; strong ownership and follow-through on cross-functional deliverables.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive; able to take initiative in identifying issues and driving them to resolution.
